We wandered the city, and saw many sights but of course the most important part of the trip was the food - pizza every night for dinner? Heaven for kids!
I think this is the only photo I have of the other kids (on Friday our friend's brother and cousin joined us, with their 5 kids, so at that point we crossed into the territory of the ridiculous.) THe kids loved to run amok in the courtyard in front of our palace.
Ostensibly our Christmas card, it didn't turn out as well as hoped. We just have too many people. But it's still a nice photo - M and A are showing off their new, quite expensive high quality leather jackets from our day trip to Firenze (Florence) to visit and to see our friend Jennifer Tattanelli who happens to own a nice leather goods store called Casini Firenze. She gave us "mates rates" and we all ended up with some nice early holiday gifts.
Behind our packmule and his charge you can see St. Mark's square starting to fill with water. The first day we missed the tide, but on this day, we got to experience the famous bridges and traffic jams of trying to get around when a city is under a foot of water!
And of course a famous gondolier. We had to forego the gondola trip, I think the little ones wouldn't appreciate it for the price. We went with the lower coast ferry boats, which were warm and enclosed and equally interesting.
